The slicer does it's job. Constructed well, but has multiple pieces which causes excess material from slicing to collect in the grooves and crevasses between components. This makes cleaning a bit more difficult than more simple design. However, a simple construction does not allow as much function. Therefore, my wife plans to use this slicer for more complex slicing, and a simple device for simple slicing. This one can do most of any slicing job by itself, but expect some extra work cleaning up.

My second review I give this product higher marks although I had to learn to use the safety holder by not pushing the steel prongs into the veggie because doing this will cause them to hit the cutting blade and ruin the cutting blade..the company did a stand up job by sending me a new unit..kudos for that

Be very careful with this product, the blades are very sharp. The blades have a "park" position which renders the slicer safe to handle, but it is up to you to engage it after every use.
This product is remarkably well engineered and constructed. Probably made in China, but it has the look and feel of a German product.

The only thing that I don't like about this mandolin is that the screws that hold it together and the edge of the blades are starting to rust other than that it's great! No pieces to have to store everything is contained in the unit and it is very sharp so make sure that you use the safety card so you don't cut yourself!
